City Kids - Week 24

Another wonderful week of kids and animals and plants working together.

In the Garden:

Carrots, cucumbers, yellow beans, lettuce, tomatoes, romanesco, radishes, cauliflower, and broccoli were harvested.
Nasturtium flowering

Pumpkins

3 sisters - String beans growing on the corn

Peas drying
Garlic harvested and drying
Cucumber
Also coming back this week.....Canada geese!!

The little dots are the geese by the pond.
Now up in the garden are the meat chicks!!  They had quite the moving adventure.
1st we had to clean out their old home

So they stayed in the wheelbarrow for a bit.

Then the farmers got to carry some up to the garden

Some farmers even took two at a time!

The rest were carried by the farmers in a tub

Then they were placed into their new chicken tractor home

Where the farmers gave them their food and water

Now they are enjoy life in the garden with fresh grass!!!
Thank you farmers.
On the farm:

No dry cows or heifers gave birth this week, which is good; there is not much space for them.
But all the calves (Winona, Juicy, Alabama, Buggie, Burlington, Kiwi, Aqua, Poppy, Althea, Kow, and Alaska) are doing well.
Turkey's enjoy their whole pen again.

Laying Chicks also, now have the run of the coop.  The larger laying
hens and Rodney moved down to Ashley's house.

Haying has been on going.  Lots of round bales and squares bales stacked away for winter.
