January Phenology

"Anyone who thinks gardening begins in the spring and ends in the fall is missing the best part of the whole year; for gardening begins in January with the dream."  - Josephine Nuese

And dreaming, we are, of children back on the farm.

The calves have been growing a lot this month.  Cassidy and Aubrey are weaning and will become heifers come the end of this week.  Cassidy is really ready to move to a new home.

The last heifer calf that was born (Huckleberry) I was never able to get photos of her up, so here she is at 1 day old and 1 month old.

We had a couple of bulls born this month.  On January 18th, Aretmis had a bull calf, which we named Archemeties.  And on the 28th of January Mercedes had her first calf, which was a bull named Tundra.  Both have left the farm for future adventures.
